Rock Detectives Camp was a Fun, Successful Week

I spent last week teaching a Rock Detectives camp. We had a great week learning about minerals, rocks and the rock cycle. Monday through Thursday, we learned about a particular set of minerals, igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks or metamorphic rocks. The kids learned how to use a flow chart to identify the samples in a Mini Me Geology Deluxe kit then we performed experiments, had snacks and played a Rock Bingo tournament to end each day. On Friday, we learned about the Rock Cycle and played games including Rock Jeopardy!

The kids and I all had a great time. I hope we can have another Rock Detectives camp next summer. If you want to hold your own rock camp, send me an email at rockinfo@minimegeology.com. We will be publishing our rock camp and classroom guide for elementary teachers later this summer.
